An Epicurean Delight From The Farm
There could hardly be a better way to describe Windspiel. On our own farm in the Volcanic Eifel we, Sandra Wimmeler, Denis Lönnendonker and Tobias Schwoll, grow the potatoes that make our spirits so unique. All our products are handcrafted and sold in small batches. Our affinity to nature and love of fine spirits doesn’t mean we sacrifice on style. If anything, our brand is a blend of our worlds and our dreams. This is also reflected in our products. Windspiel is dedicated to Frederick the Great who discovered the potato in Germany and to his second great passion: the greyhound or in German “Windspiel”.
The first gin anywhere in Germany made from potatoes cultivated in rich volcanic soil on our own farm. The mild potato alcohol is perfected with the addition of traditional botanicals such as juniper, lemon zest, coriander, lavender, cinnamon bark and other botanicals according to a secret recipe developed by our master distiller. “A soft, complex and well-balanced gin which
also smells of citrus fruit and red berries.”
The Windspiel Navy Strength Gin blends juniper, lemon and coriander with a hint of cinnamon and turns it into a burst of fireworks for the senses. “A blend of British and German history in one bottle.”
Hand-picked sloes from the Eifel give Wind spiel Premium Sloe Gin its unmistakable flavour. Harvested after the first frost, they deliver dry-bitter flavours which brings a touch of sweetness. You’ll notice how the bittersweet sloe flavour against the spicy aroma of the cinnamon distillate comes to the fore. A pleasant & varied explosion of flavour on the palate comes from this classic mix.
The unique composition of mild, slightly spicy potato alcohol with fresh, aromatic herbs from the Eifel and varied & exotic ingredients results in a herbal spirit that simply ticks all the boxes. You can already sense the well-adjusted balance between local & exotic herbs in the nose. Slightly spicy notes of juniper encounter the mild, fresh aroma of mullein flowers and St. John’s wort.
